Marc Jacobs Called Luigi Mangione a “Trendsetter”

The burgundy sweater Luigi Mangione wore to a court appearances reportedly sold out at Nordstrom, and Marc Jacobs thinks that makes him a trendsetter.

The exchange came during a Vanity Fair “Lie Detector Test” interview. The interviewer pointed out that Winona Ryder, Lil’ Kim, and Courtney Love had all worn Jacobs’s designs to their own high-profile court dates, then showed him a photo of Mangione and asked if he’d style him for trial.

Jacobs chuckled and said, “Um, yes.” On what he’d put him in: “I think he looks pretty good the way he dresses, actually.” And when asked directly whether Mangione was a trendsetter, his answer was one word: “Yes.”

The yes/no format kept it light. The subject, the man charged in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson, is anything but.
