Kevin James told this story on the EWTN podcast Catholics and Cappuccinos, hosted by Siobhan Fallon Hogan. He’d first described the fast on Joe Rogan’s show in 2024, and he returned to it here through the lens of his faith.

His oldest daughter, Sienna-Marie, is on the spectrum. She was struggling with tics and with sleep, and Kevin says he and his wife, Steffiana de la Cruz, had run out of ideas. So they did the one thing left to do. They prayed, and Kevin fasted.
He never set out to hit a specific number. He went a day at a time, drinking water with a little salt for electrolytes, and ended up going more than 40 days. He’s honest that he’s not a natural at this. He loves food, he overeats, and he says quitting crossed his mind constantly. He kept going.

He’s careful not to tell it like a magic cure. There were other therapies, other forms of help, a longer road than one fast. What he holds onto is the morning Sienna-Marie said she’d slept, and the lesson he took from it.
The answer didn’t come on his schedule. He says it came on God’s.
