Miley Cyrus accepted her Hollywood Walk of Fame star on Friday with an emotional speech that turned the honor into a meditation on legacy, creativity, and the fans who helped carry her from Hannah Montana to global pop superstardom.

The singer received the 2,845th star on the Walk of Fame, honored in the Recording category at 7011 Hollywood Boulevard. Wearing a sheer black lace gown, Cyrus was joined by Anya Taylor-Joy and Donatella Versace, who both paid tribute to her before she took the podium.
Cyrus opened by thanking her friends and calling Los Angeles her home, “truly a city of angels.” She reflected on the meaning of having her name placed in concrete alongside generations of entertainers whose legacies live on long after them.

Referencing her song “Walk of Fame” from her latest album, Cyrus said the idea of immortality through art is powerful, but it is the knowledge that life is temporary that fuels her creativity. “The fact that I won’t [live forever] is what creates the urgency that sets my heart on fire,” she said, describing her work as a way to break through the limits and boxes people are taught to believe in.
She compared the star to a skyscraper, borrowing a saying from her father: “A skyscraper starts with a jackhammer.” For Cyrus, the star represents not one single achievement, but years of repetition, devotion, and persistence.
“The star isn’t something that you win like a seasonal game,” she said. “It’s not something that you can chase or collect.”
Cyrus also brought humor to the moment, admiring the gold and pink terrazzo design and joking that it was “fierce,” “fun,” and “fabulous,” with Versace-approved glamour.
But the most emotional moment came when she turned to her fans.
“To my fans, you are the star,” Cyrus said, tearing up as she thanked them for making her dreams real every day through their love and support.
She also thanked her teams at CAA, Columbia Records, the Happy Hippie Foundation, and the Miley Cyrus Foundation for their ongoing support of her music and advocacy for the LGBTQ+ community. Toward the end of the speech, she grew visibly emotional while thanking her family, future family, parents, siblings, friends, and collaborators for standing by her through both her choices and her fears.
“Today is something that I’ll never forget and I’m always going to cherish,” she said. “I love you all so much.”
The ceremony marked a full-circle moment for Cyrus, who recalled being a young girl from Nashville walking Hollywood Boulevard with her father, buying knock-off Oscars and Marilyn Monroe souvenirs. Two decades after the start of Hannah Montana, and following career-defining hits like “Flowers” and her 2025 duet with Beyoncé, Cyrus now has her own permanent place on the boulevard she once visited as a dreamer.
