Bruce Willis‘ wife Emma Heming wrote a candid Insta Stories post about being able to care for oneself while looking after others.
It emerged earlier this year that Bruce, 67, has a brain condition called aphasia that causes language abilities to deteriorate.
Emma, 43, who also shares two young daughters with Bruce, wrote Monday on social media: ‘When you put everyone’s needs above your own, no one wins.’

She added: ‘I don’t do this perfectly but I really am trying so I can be the best I can be for the people I love and adore.’
Emma also reposted an upload by the Women’s Alzheimer’s Association, which had quoted a remark she made during an interview with The Bump.
”Someone told me not long ago that when you over-care for someone, you end up under-caring for yourself,’ she had said.
Bruce and Emma married in 2009 and they have since welcomed two children into the world together – Mabel, 10, and Evelyn, eight.

At the end of March news broke that Bruce was withdrawing from acting amid his battle with his brain condition.
An insider told People his family was ‘doing whatever they can’ for him and ‘have rallied around him in a big way to help Bruce cope with what is to come.’
Bruce’s blended family issued a joint statement at the end of March announcing that he was ‘stepping away from the career that has meant so much to him.’
The statement revealed he ‘has been experiencing some health issues and has recently been diagnosed with aphasia, which is impacting his cognitive abilities.’

Demi Moore and the three daughters she shares with Bruce – Rumer, 33, Scout, 30, and Tallulah, 28 – all signed the statement along with Emma, Mabel and Evelyn.
After the family went public with news of Bruce’s retirement, fans flocked to social media to share their love for the Die Hard icon.
The Razzie Awards even decided to rescind a special category they had previously announced: ‘worst performance by Bruce Willis in a 2021 movie.’

‘I’d hoped for some love and compassion, I truly NEVER could have anticipated the depth and breadth of the love we received as a family yesterday,’ Scout wrote on Instagram amid the outpouring of affection for her father.
The family are now apparently focused on treasuring the upbeat memories they are able to create together such as Mabel turning 10 on April Fool’s Day.
‘Emma is especially grateful for the daughters she shares with Bruce. Everyone is focused on all the happy moments they are able to share,’ a People insider said.
