“I Thought That If I Said No, I’d Lose The Role.” Alexa Demie on Why She Agreed to Nudity and Sex Scenes Early in ‘Euphoria.’

Alexa Demie says she agreed to nudity and sex scenes at the start of ‘Euphoria’ because she was convinced refusing would mean losing the role of Maddy.

“I thought that if I said no, I’d lose the role. Not because anyone had told me that, but because I was very young and didn’t know any better,” she said.

It wasn’t until after filming a scene of Maddy cheating on Nate that she realized she was uncomfortable. She clarified she isn’t against sex on screen and thinks it can be portrayed beautifully, but that particular work didn’t sit right with her.
